Summary: The Business Development Senior Manager will help develop the business development plans and the strategies and tools to execute on the plans. S/he will help shape the strategic positioning for the practice(s) within the context of the Firm brand. This includes supporting client relationship building initiatives, facilitating cross-selling opportunities with other practice groups and lead generation. This position will support the Latin American Practice Group. The Senior Manager will also have managerial and mentoring responsibility for the Business Development team member(s) working with the practices s/he supports. This position involves working closely with attorneys and other members of the Global Business Development team

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Helping partners develop and execute individual business development plans and contributing to the business development plans of the practice groups; ensuring strategies and tactics are proactively adjusted as market conditions change;
  • Maintaining a pipeline of opportunities; tracking results of pitches and proposals; providing timely ideas and other support to ensure consistent progress towards achieving business development goals;
  • Gathering intelligence using internal and external data sources on firm clients, targets and market trends to provide attorneys with an understanding of the competitive landscape to position the firm for increased effectiveness in winning new business;
  • Proactively identifying business development opportunities by keeping abreast of news in the market about the firm’s clients/prospects and then proactively communicating lead generation opportunities to the attorneys;
  • Overseeing and preparing pitches, presentations, RFP responses, background briefing materials and general practice credentials
  • Providing structure and support to cross-selling initiatives, including through internal communications that promote recent successes and other relevant developments
  • Overseeing and preparing monthly and quarterly internal practice, client team, and business development activity reports, as well as practice group meeting agendas
  • Serving as the lead business development point person for several client teams, and implementing best practices to improve productivity
  • Managing profile-raising opportunities which include submissions to directories and rankings, and working collaboratively with the PR team on award submissions;
  • Proactively identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities;
  • Liaising with Events and Communications teams on internal and external events, website content, brochures and other practice-specific content.

Qualifications
Professional experience:

A minimum of 10 to 12+ years of relevant business development experience, and knowledge of, or experience with, M&A, Capital Markets, and or Project Finance. Law firm/professional services or marketing experience is highly desirable.  Based on the scope of your experience, we are receptive to a number of experience and skill set combinations to make this LATAM Business Development executive successful coming from the legal, financial or management consulting industries.

Specific requirements:
The position requires a high-energy and motivated team player who is also able to work independently as the business development point person for partners. The individual must be able to adapt to change, balance competing demands and manage demands outside of traditional business hours.

  • Fluent in Spanish (written and verbal);
  • Proven work experience as a manager;
  • Possess strong knowledge of highly confidential M&A, Capital Markets, and Project Finance;
  • Proactive business development professional who can lead activity rather than simply taking ideas and delivering; This executive must be proactive
  • Confident, persuasive and assertive; capable of building trust amongst the partnership;
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent analytical and research skills and the ability to process information from a wide variety of sources;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and an extraordinary attention to detail;
  • Strong computer skills with various Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Expected to monitor emails outside of normal business hours and be available as needed.

Education:

  • Gather data from various sources/databases to compile a variety of intelligence briefings, including (but not limited to): company/private equity firm profiles, relationship intelligence documents and biographical dossiers
  • Engage in comprehensive research of the Firm’s transactions across a wide breadth of industries, geographies and transaction types using a variety of internal and external resources, including Bloomberg, The Deal Pipeline, CapIQ, Pitchbook, Deal Point Data, PrivateRaise, Preqin, ThomsonOne and others
  • Accurately capture and maintain comprehensive transaction deals in the Firm’s experience database
    Create manuals and resource materials for the experience database, outlining best practices for researching and recording transactions as well as helping to develop definitions and taxonomies
  • Provide research, coordination and other logistical assistance in connection with the origination and execution of new business pitches and related client development meetings and activities
  • Refine and curate core materials related to specific industries, practice descriptions and representative experience
    Research, develop, and manage on-point visibility opportunities, such as industry seminars and speaking/sponsorship opportunities to increase an individual or the group’s profile
  • Monitor alerts and news flow to support proactive team initiatives
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking research within an industry or among peer firms
  • Assist with collecting NY-specific litigation case experience to record in case tracking database
  • Update data in the Firm’s marketing CRM database, including the review and creation of mailing lists
  • Review and consult with attorneys on new content, including matters and awards/rankings, and focus of their biographies
  • Work alongside the Events team to put together client events
  • Work with all functions of the greater Business Development & Marketing team, including Operations, Development, Systems, Communications, and Business Intelligence.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of BD or marketing experience in a law firm, finance or investment banking environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree
    Deep knowledge of litigation and or Corporate Governance/M&A litigation and or Securities & Shareholder litigation
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills, including an innate ability to communicate with stakeholders

A mid-sized New York law firm is seeking a CRM Specialist to join the Marketing team.  This person will play a key role in the promotion, administration, and maintenance of the firm’s database.

  • Collaborate with partners, administrators and executives on firm wide marketing and business development efforts
  • Segment contact database into individual marketing mailing lists for specific programs and events
  • Conduct CRM database (InterAction) administration including FDA rules, proxy rights, and data change management
  • Provide ongoing support to, as well as, train attorneys, secretaries, and other end users on their use of the CRM database
  • Assist with firm-sponsored events, both in-house and external, including coordination and logistics
  • Maintain practice descriptions, biographies, news items and media on firm website and in print
  • Obtain and update attorney contact lists; add to targeted marketing lists
  • Generate ideas to make navigating the database easier for end users
  • Develop and run searches and reports to ensure data integrity
  • Stay on top of current trends and apply when necessary

Requirements

  • 2+ years of CRM experience within a law firm or professional services firm
  • Experience administering / maintaining InterAction database required
  • Familiarity with Constant Contact or similar email marketing vendor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and complete assignments in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, as well as interact with attorneys and administrative personnel of all levels
  • Bachelor's degree

Job Description

  • Coordinate the Firm mailing process which includes working with Partners and Associates to reformat documents and get approval for mailing lists
  • Generating reports from data within InterAction
  • Monitoring the InterAction system to ensure the integrity of the data and providing troubleshooting support for other users
  • Attending to ongoing maintenance of the InterAction system and special projects that arise
  • Performing other marketing duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

  • 2 to 5 years of prior experience working in a professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with basic marketing principles and software such as InterAction Web (version 5.6) /Windows Client software, MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent project management, verbal and written communication skills and research skills required.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and able to work overtime when needed.

Job Description

The InterAction Specialist will play a leading role in creating strategy for and managing the firm's InterAction program.

Specifically, this individual will be responsible for raising awareness of and promoting the capabilities of the CRM system, as well as the ongoing administration of the database.  This individual will also be responsible for the firm's email marketing activities, including distributions related to client events and client alerts. 

  • Enter data into CRM database for contacts, companies, engagements and opportunities and monitor
  • For accuracy and completeness
  • Perform data quality research using internal and external resources and proof users’ data change requests
  • Segment database for targeted events and e-mailings
  • Create, utilize and maintain folders and lists used in firm e-mailings to clients
  • Train attorneys, secretaries and other end users and encourage increased/enhanced usage of CRM
  • Generate ideas to consistently enhance the value of the database and its contents for users
  • Remain aware of current CRM, direct mail and business development-related trends/best practices and apply when necessary
  • Assist with firm-sponsored events 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

  • 2+ years of experience managing an InterAction database

    Superior attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, writing and research skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Experience working at a professional services firm
  • Ability to train and communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience as a project coordinator preferred
