Bankruptcy Paralegal – Chapter 11

Location

New York City, NY - Midtown Manhattan

Salary

Base to $80,000 plus bonus and well paid overtime

U.S. based global corporate law firm

Duties

• Perform full range of paralegal tasks from case inception through case closure for Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases
• Conduct intake interviews with prospective clients
• Research and investigate credit reports, transactions, loans, debts owed and evident assets important to the case
• Draft, proofread & edit legal documents and proofs of claim/fee applications filed to Bankruptcy Court
• Electronically file documents to the U.S. District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court
• Monitor bankruptcy court docket daily for any new cases/information for firm & attorneys
• Assemble affidavits/certificates of service and coordinate the service of pleadings filed
• Assemble, organize and review all e-discovery legal documents including indexing, bates-stamping, and redaction
• Prepare, organize and summarize all documents for hearings and depositions; manage calendar of all deadlines
• Serve and notify all parties of bankruptcy proceedings, hearings, and court dates.
• Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation by assembling and organizing case files, binders and exhibits for attorney to take to court

Required

• 4+ years bankruptcy experience working in a large law firm
• Extensive knowledge of Chapter 11 filing process
• Strong knowledge of Bankruptcy laws and proceedings
• Demonstrated experience with ECF
• Available for overtime
